Alicia Schmidt is an incredibly driven, innovative, compassionate, and skilled Fetal Care Nurse Coordinator, who continually gives 110% of herself to her patients and the Fetal Care program at Phoenix Children’s Hospital. She is one of the hardest working and selfless individuals that I have ever met. She is very closely involved with her patients, as well as the referring OB and MFM providers, and the many specialty physicians she coordinates referrals for, keeping them fully updated and informed.

Alicia is a transformational leader and a problem solver. If something is not working efficiently, she is not complacent, but rather solution-based in her actions. She makes her voice heard and she has developed incredible working relationships with staff and physician’s hospital wide. Not only do they listen to her, they respect her and her thoughts and opinions. The best in patient care is ALWAYS her bottom line and her number one goal and objective.

Alicia is always thinking of ways to improve processes and has transformed the patient care experience by integrating a collaborative and multidisciplinary approach to these complex patient cases, by organizing multiple consult appointments. She initiated Zoom Care Conferences, which involve the patient and significant other, along with all involved discipline specialties. This has taken care coordination to a whole other level, setting our organization apart from many. She has formed incredible working relationships with these physicians, and she is totally invested in providing the best care for her patients.

I work as a Fetal Cardiology Nurse Coordinator and I am so very fortunate to get to work with Alicia in the collaboration of care of our shared patients, as well as striving towards the ongoing improvement of our program processes, too. She is a huge asset to the Fetal Care Program, PCH, her co-workers, and her patients and families are beyond lucky to have her!
