The Nomination for Dr. Kim

I am pleased to nominate Dr. Kim for the Art of the Nursing Heart Award. As a PhD student and research assistant who has had the opportunity to work closely with her, I have seen how her dedication to nursing and education profoundly impacts students and colleagues alike. Dr. Kim’s commitment to advancing nursing leadership, fostering resilience, and supporting international students through her work with IFNL (International Future Nurse Leaders) makes her an outstanding candidate for this award.

Six years ago, Dr. Kim founded IFNL at UC College of Nursing, creating a much-needed space to support international nursing students as they navigate unique challenges in their academic and professional journeys. As the current president of IFNL, I’ve had the honor of witnessing her unwavering support and guidance firsthand. Dr. Kim’s leadership in IFNL has not only strengthened our community but also provided international students like myself with a network that empowers us to succeed in a new and diverse healthcare environment.

In addition to her work with IFNL, Dr. Kim is also deeply committed to research focused on building resilience among nurse leaders. Together, we have worked on projects exploring intervention strategies designed to help nurse leaders manage the emotional demands and stresses of their roles. Her research emphasizes the importance of personal well-being in professional growth, a message that resonates strongly in a demanding field like nursing.

Dr. Kim’s mentorship goes beyond typical academic support; she fosters both personal and professional growth in all her students. Her commitment to our success is evident in every interaction, as she encourages us to overcome challenges with resilience and to lead with empathy. She has shaped my understanding of nursing as both a science and an art, combining evidence-based care with compassion and integrity.

I am proud to nominate Dr. Kim for the Art of the Nursing Heart Award for her exceptional contributions to nursing education, her dedication to supporting international nursing students, and her innovative research in nurse resilience. This recognition would honor her remarkable impact on our community and her ongoing efforts to support and inspire future nurse leaders.
